All new and reissued credit cards now come with new EMV chip technology which gives you with an extra layer of security when used at merchants that utilize chip-enabled terminals.
Curious what the addition of the chip does? It’s all for your security and protection! Information stored within the chip is more difficult to counterfeit. So each time you use your chip enabled card at a chip enabled terminal, a unique security code is generated, making it hard for fraudsters to copy the data and reuse fraudulently.
You will get your new chip card when your existing card expires. If you want to request a chip card before your current card expires, please call our Virtual Branch at 713.428.3200.
