August Fraud Alerts
We have been made aware of at least three different "phishing" scams being circulated via e-mail to members and People's Trust staff. The following are legitimate companies and organizations whose names have been referenced as the source of fraudulent e-mails:
National Credit Union Administration (NCUA)
Credit Union National Association (CUNA)
Maestro Debit Card Services (a division of MasterCard)
All of these listed entities provide services to financial institutions in the U.S. and some abroad, including People's Trust. If you believe you may have responded to any suspected e-mail phishing scam, please contact People's Trust immediately at 713.428.3200 or 800.321.2411.
As a reminder, People's Trust would never request personal identification information over the phone via an unsolicited e-mail, fax, or text message. If you are unsure of the authenticity of an electronic message, do not reply or otherwise provide any information.
