Census 2010
The 2010 Census will arrive in mailboxes in March, 2010! People’s Trust encourages you to fill out the Census, which is only ten questions and should only take about 10 minutes, as the results will affect both public and private decisions for the next ten years. Answers are entirely confidential.
Increasing Houston's response rate in the census increases the accuracy of our count and reduces the chance for undercounting. A better count improves the possibility of:
- Increased funding for hundreds of critical programs serving youth, seniors and others in need
- More funding from the Institutes of Health, the National Endowment of the Arts and a dozen other Federal agencies
- Better highways and more transit investment
- Another member of Congress and more representation in Austin
- A more accurate picture of our population to use when adding two new City Council Districts in 2011
