Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the questions that we have had from members. Please read through with hopes of answering questions that you might have.
When and how do I activate my card(s)?
Your new ATM/Debit Card will be available for use starting on May 13, 2013. Please activate your new debit card on or after May 13, 2013 by one of two ways:
- You may activate your card by performing a PIN based transaction using your newly issued PIN (i.e. make a grocery purchase and enter your PIN).
- Or you may call the toll free number on the card and follow the prompts.
It is important that you don’t destroy your old card as the old one will be the only one that works until May 13, 2013.
What if I accidently destroyed my old card? What do I do?
Unfortunately, you will not be able to use the new card until May 13, 2013. With your old card destroyed, you will have to use an alternate method of payment (i.e. write a check). The insert in the mailing specified to activate and begin using on or after May 13, 2013.
If I use my current People’s Trust Debit Card for automatic payments (such as a gym membership, insurance, etc.), will this automatically change with the new card?
No. If you use your debit card for an automatic payment, on May 13, 2013 you will have to contact the company to update the card number and expiration date they have on file.
When will my current ATM/Debit Card be deactivated?
Your current People’s Trust ATM/Debit Card(s) will be deactivated on May 13, 2013.
Why is my expiration date different than my husband’s?
When the mass reissue was done, it automatically assigned new card numbers to each cardholder along with a new expiration date. The expiration dates were staggered so we did not have everyone’s card expire at the same time. This will not prevent them from using the card. One card will simply expire at a different time than the other.
Why is the name on my card different from what it was before?
When the mass reissue file was submitted, it pulled the name data from our system. If we had the name incorrect in our system or listed differently than what the member had on the card before, it transferred over incorrectly. Please let us know as soon as possible and we will get a new card issued and fix in our system to ensure future cards are ordered correctly.
Why is this conversion happening and how does it impact me?
To better serve our members, People’s Trust made the decision to change our ATM/Debit Card network processor. As a part of this relationship change, not only will you be reissued a new card, but you’ll also have access to nearly 30,000 surcharge free ATMs nationwide.
When will I receive my new PIN?
Your new PIN should arrive approximately 2 days after the card. To protect your privacy, it will not have the People's Trust logo on it and could be easily discarded. If that happened, please call us at 713.428.3200 or visit a branch to get your card re-PINed.
Can I change my PIN?
You will have the option to change your PIN during the activation process. Please note that this option will require that various security questions be answered accurately with the information that we have on file.
If I have previously registered with Verified by Visa do I need to re-register?
Yes, your registration will not be carried over. We strongly encourage all debit card holders to register with Verified by Visa to help prevent fraudulent online purchases.
