People’s Trust is a not-for-profit financial cooperative dedicated to meeting the financial needs of our members.  As a cooperative, the credit union is owned and governed by its members.  Annually, the volunteer Board of Directors is elected by the membership to provide oversight and is responsible for monitoring the ‘activities of management to ensure they are making decisions in the best interest of all members.  Unlike for-profit financial institutions, credit unions do not pay the Board of Directors for their service.  Instead, dedicated and committed individuals volunteer their time, knowledge, and experience.

The Board of Directors is also responsible for appointing members of the Supervisory Committee who act as the “watch dog” over the organization.  Working with the Internal Auditor, the Supervisory Committee is responsible for monitoring the credit union’s compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and laws.
